This unique and distinct Yoga Teacher Training module is suited for teachers or aspiring teachers who wish to deepen their understanding of Yoga Philosophy from one of the most experienced yogis on the subject in the country. This enlightening investigation of Yoga Philosophy led by Scott Petrie unearths the sacred and ancient aura that distances modern practitioners from the texts of Yoga, enriching their meaning and relevance for their readers.

Scott Petrie on Yoga PhilosophyScott has lectured on Eastern history and philosophy for over 20 years across Canada and internationally and holds a B.A. Phil. (UWO), M.Ts. (Dalhousie), M.A. Rel. Studies (U of T).

Scott embraces Yoga Philosophy as a living and dynamic practice. He presents Yoga philosophy as an ever-deepening path of self-discovery and provides a practical set of tools by which one may come to understand one’s place in the world.

2. Vedic culture – rta, nirta and sacrifice & basic Sanskrit intro
3. Karma, purushartas, free will/destiny, dharma
4. Upanishads, dualism and non-dualism, meaning of nature
5. Bhagavad Gita
6. Yoga Sutras – samadhi pada
7. Yoga Sutras – sadhana pada
8. Yoga Sutras – vibhuti/kaivalya pada
9. Tantra – cosmology, non-dualism
10. Tantra – subtle bodies, alchemy, Hatha yoga
11. Modern Yoga from 1850 -– 1950
12. Modern Yoga from 1950 – present

Dates: 10 Wednesday nights, 7:15-9:45pm, 2 Thursday nights, 7:30-9:45pm
