You know when you just know?

We were on the hunt for the perfect, ethically sourced Essential Oil offering for 889. Emily and I explored numerous brands and tried many oils. I opened my first doTERRA Essential Oil and it was love at first sight! I was about to experience the most extraordinary health product of my life.

Why did we choose doTERRA Essential Oils?

Product and people. People and product are the two main reasons this brand stood out and felt aligned with 889.

With that said, I could probably write a 10,000 word blog post. But, I’m going to keep it to a quick 2-minute read.

PRODUCT:

doTERRA’s commitment to  ethically sourced product, purity, and testing is what got me. The oils are pure and potent. And through every stage of the process, doTERRA maintains complete integrity.

Where do the Oils come from?

doTERRA ethically sources each and every oil on a global scale. They responsibly partner with families and farms from over 40 countries who are committed to cultivating the best seeds, soil and growing environments. They source their plants where the plants thrive most. Lavender is a great example. doTERRA sources Lavender from Provence, France; where it is local and indigenous. And therefore, known to be most potent and beautiful lavender in the world. As a result of doTERRA’s sourcing methods, their oils are unmatched in quality.

How the oils are made is beautiful process.

An incredible resource I have been using is Source to You. Check it out. It explains every step of the journey of an Essential Oil. Here are two videos I want to share. The videos are far more powerful than my words, so I encourage you to take a peek for yourself.

Ylang Ylang

Ylang Ylang is known as the Oil of The Inner Child. Watch the “Sourcing of Ylang Ylang in Madagascar” video here.

How we know what’s in the bottle?

Every litre of essential oil that is delivered to doTERRA head office in Utah, is tested by a third party. The company tests 1-3 times to ensure quality and integrity.

PEOPLE

It’s the growers, distillers, scientists, practitioners, and community are the heart of the company.

Every wage paid is fair-trade, this is over 18,000 jobs globally. doTERRA builds and supports ethical supply-chains that benefit rural communities in need. Temptation might have been to buy huge plots of land and mass produce oils. Yet, doTERRA chooses to partner with local farmers, some whom have nurtured these plants for generations. doTERRA’s way of business:

  • Fair Trade wages
  • Build and expand supplier capacities
  • Long-Term partnerships
  • Promote co-operatives (Co-Impact Sourcing)
  • Ensure Environmental Stewardship
  • Facilitate Community Development

For us, this commitment was un-matched. It made our decision on the spot.

Most of all, the effectiveness of the Oils (of which we’ll share more in a future blog post)

Why do we care so much?

It’s our vision at 889 to connect people in our community to this lifestyle. We are seeking to connect you to the opportunity to have natural plant-powered wellness tools at your fingertips to detoxify and heal your body and your home, naturally, via mother nature.

These oils have been a pivotal tool in helping us to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Similar to in Yoga, when you have the “ah-ha” on your mat, and you realize that yoga is about so much more than a “workout”. We feel the same way with Essential Oils. It’s about so much more than your home smelling divine. Rather, it’s about the bigger picture.

Tell us about your favourite oils! We love to know how YOU, our 889 Community, enjoy essential oils in your life!
