889 welcomes Sarah Powers to our community April 11-13, 2014. Lucky, US!

I could not be more excited to share with you that Sarah is coming to 889 this Spring, part of our 889 Living Yoga Program.  Sarah is leading a 10-hour Yin/Yang Yoga + Mindfulness Meditation Module on Friday April 11 – Sunday April 13, 2014.

Sarah is a global yogi, teaching yin / yang yoga and insight meditation around the world, and has been teaching yoga since 1987. She offers a unique inter-disciplinary approach that blends the insights and practices of yoga with Buddhist mindfulness and meditation. Her teaching is so very unique. She has developed “Insight Yoga” which she fuses Yoga, Buddhism and Psychology. We are bringing her to 889 because of our passion and LOVE for yin yoga and for buddhist meditation. We know she is a perfect fit for those in our community loving yin, meditation, and who want to draw in the psychology aspect as much as we do. Having Sarah to 889 is a divine privilege.

Some of our 889 teachers also train with Sarah. Most recently Lana Sugarman and Sunny Smith have both trained with her and  shared that she would be a perfect teacher for our 889 yogis as she is a total inspiration to both of them.

Here’s what Lana has to say…

I was first introduced to Sarah Powers through her book, Insight Yoga, during my yin training in 2009. It is still one of my favorite resources to draw from. A few years later I was able to experience her teaching in person at the Yoga Conference in Toronto. This past summer I had the privilege of immersing myself in her 5 day silent yin/meditation retreat in France.

Sarah has a wisdom that comes from years of personal practice and exploration. There is an authenticity and depth to her teaching that I appreciate, and will continue to seek out. Perhaps what I gained most from my retreat, was a passion for meditation that I’d been looking for for a long time on my yoga journey. Sarah offers an integrated experience that includes intelligent yang (active) asana practice, pranayama, extensive knowledge of yin yoga, and buddhist philosophy. She has that gift of merging humor and firmness, strength and compassion.

And, well, I signed up pretty much immediately when I heard she was coming to 889 for her weekend intensive. It’s a gift to have her at 889- perhaps I’ll see you there? 🙂

Love, your yin-obsessed teacher,

Lana

Sarah’s SchoolThe Insight Yoga Institute offers a 2-year graduate level program to develop and deepen practices that integrate yoga, buddhism and spiritual psychology. Learning from her at 889 will give you a solid taste.

Sarah’s Book, Insight Yoga (referenced above by Lana) is s series of practices distilled by her. These combined disciplines, some yogic, some Buddhist and some Taoists, are designed to identify, open and strengthen the various physical and psychological components of one’s experience– fostering a kinder, clearer and altogether healthier and more mature relationship to one’s self and others. Insight Yoga inspires this psychospiritual transformation through passive (yin) and active (Yang) yoga postures combined with breathing practices, visualization, mindfulness meditation, self inquiry and dialogue, and extended periods of silence.

Sarah’s DVDs, Pranayama Online Courses and articles will all give you greater insight into her teachings.

Note: This Module counts towards 10 hours of our 300-hour 889 Living Yoga Program.

RESERVE NOW! It’s only February and her workshop is almost sold out.

It’s Emily and my divine pleasure to be of service to you.

Much LOVE always to each of you.

Christine
