Mum and Baby Yoga at 889

I’m excited it is Tuesday. Excited because tomorrow is my favorite class at 889. At 11:15 every Wednesday morning, myself, and a few other yoga mamas bring our little ones into class for Post-natal yoga with our babies! They lounge around on blankets, occasionally chant OM or chatter excitedly to each other in their own little language. Sometimes they bust out a downward dog or a cobra with great enthusiasm to rounds of applause. If we are lucky they fall asleep in Savasana.
As a busy working mother, I am constantly striving for a balance between family time and career. My own personal yoga practice is most often what is sacrificed to make way for what I see as priorities (time with my kids, and my job as Yoga Community Leader). It’s not that my own practice isn’t important – it is just that over the years I have developed a realistic approach to my yoga practice, that frees me from feeling guilty if a busy day prevents me from getting to my mat.
In Mum and Baby yoga I feel so blissfully balanced: integrated into our wonderful yoga community, getting my asana practice in for the day and stealing as many kisses and hugs with my precious little guy as I can into 75 minutes.
Tiffany teaches a fabulous flow class that is truly accessible for women at all stages of their post-partum recovery. It isn’t always peaceful (!) or relaxing (!), but no other class comes close to being filled with this much love.
