Muskoka Yoga Festival

“The outdoors is a place to connect and listen for the sound of peace and quiet. I love Toronto, but we can’t really escape the noise. There is always that little buzz of the city that feels welcoming in its own way. But the silence of nature is truly special and something I cherish.”

Jaffer Hussain, 889 Yoga Teacher.

What is MYF?

I am excited to tell you about the first annual Muskoka Yoga Festival. It will take place on July 8 & 9, 2017 in Bracebridge, ON at Annie Williams Park. The weekend features over 30 hours of classes and workshops led by some of your favourite past and present 889 teachers and many more from Muskoka and Toronto. Participants of all ages are welcome to attend. There will be tons of activities for kids, families, paddling enthusiasts, beginner yogis, teachers, music lovers and more. We would love to have you come up north with us for this inaugural event!

In the words of our co-founder Ashley Boone, “our aim is to bring together communities from studios, small towns and urban centres who are all looking to explore the practice of yoga, enjoy talented musicians and artists, and nurture the love of our surroundings. We know that connections and relationships formed in this type of natural setting are lifelong and important for a sustainable, fulfilling future”.

889 Community

I am proud to say that I am the Community Leader for the Muskoka Yoga Festival. I am working alongside one of our long time 889 teachers, Justin Haley (Program Director), and the lovely Brittany Turner from our Happiness Team (Social Media Manager). Being part of this festival is important to me because I love building community. It’s what inspires me to teach! Toronto is my home and my community. We deserve a yoga festival! Wanderlust is great. But it’s not quite in our province. Our yoga community in Toronto is so diverse and I can’t wait for all of the Torontonians to come together and celebrate community and connection in Muskoka!

Can’t Miss…

Tragically Hip Yoga of course! This is the class I will be teaching and what better way to celebrate summer in the outdoors than listening to your favourite Hip tunes while flowing to yoga!  Get a little taste of what to expect here.

For more information visit muskokayogafestival.com or ask Justin, Brittany or Myself in studio anytime before or after class 🙂
