Budokon Yoga – love at first class
By Carolina Carvalho, 889 Yoga Teacher
Like most life changing experiences, Budokon came into my life rather unexpectedly. After one class with Cameron Shayne, something shifted within me and I knew I could never go back to moving the way I used to.
It was day 3 of Wanderlust festival and I was ready to try something new. Hula-hooping and slack-line yoga had been full of laughter, but my soul wasn’t yet satisfied. After multiple classes with top-notch teachers, my yoga practice still felt a bit stale and my spirit wanted to be captured again. I signed-up for a Budokon workshop, which took place in the Whistler mountains, beyond the clouds. A few minutes into the class, I knew I had found what I was longing for.
Cameron Shayne is the founder of the Budokon Yoga system, which blends yoga, living and martial arts. He is an authentic teacher and movement artist who understands the body like few. His teaching is clear, simple and precise; his passion for self-expression is contagious. A black belt in martial-arts, he inspires discipline and commitment. His confidence in our individual abilities to achieve excellence empowers and inspires.
The practice is challenging, fluid and beautifully designed. The flow is clean, transitions are seamless. It may take a while to move like Cameron (see video below and you’ll understand what I mean), but the sequencing will naturally unravel within the body. It feels right for so many reasons.
Budokon translates as “the way of the warrior spirit” and its motto, “the way we do anything, is the way we do everything” sums it all up.
I have been practicing Budokon at home ever since my first class and it is safe to say I’m a convert. I feel strong, energized and alive.
I could’t be more excited about Cameron’s workshop coming to 889 and think this is a great gift to our incredible community. I encourage everyone to attend this class – you might just fall in love with it as well 😉
In gratitude,
Carolina.
Hi there
Are all of your classes Budokon yoga?
I do yoga, but what would be a good starter Budokon class?
Thanks
