Details
Unlike most crystals, Obsidian isn’t technically a crystal at all — it’s a natural volcanic glass formed when lava cools so quickly that crystals don’t have time to form.
That’s what gives it its signature smooth, glassy surface and deep, dramatic colour. It can look almost completely black, but turn it in the light and you may notice subtle brown, grey or smoky tones.
And historically? Obsidian was incredibly useful. People shaped it into tools, blades and arrowheads because it can break into remarkably sharp edges.
Today, it’s often kept as a striking decorative stone and is traditionally associated with protection, grounding and self-reflection.
Volcanic origin. Glass-like finish. Seriously cool history.
