Anatomy: the Key to Developing a Sustainable Yoga Practice

An understanding of anatomy is key to making your practice intentional and effective and is a direct link to making a yoga practice safe and sustainable.

This module will delve into a deeper and more comprehensive understanding and embodied awareness of the human body and how it moves.

Whether you’re brand new to Anatomy or you’re looking to fill in some gaps in your existing knowledge, this course aims to equip you with what you’ll need to make educated and informed movement choices based on modern evidence-based insight.

This course will break down the mechanics of movement so that you will have a fundamental understanding of all major joints, muscles and fascia (connective tissues), directions of movement and muscle contraction types.

Through investigative curiosity, we’ll develop some clarity around what we’re actually asking the body to do in yoga asana so that as teachers we can be more clear about what we’re asking our students to do and why.

As stated above, an understanding of anatomy is key to making your practice intentional and effective and is a direct link to making a yoga practice safe and sustainable. Empowering yourself with this knowledge and embodied understanding is what will set you apart as a teacher in a thriving, competitive industry.
